Circa 1910, large walnut framed mirror by Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh. The mirror is in the Queen Anne style with a large shaped top with matching walnut veneers, which are hand cut and laid on a pine back board. The frame follows the exact contours and shape of the mirror, which is hand bevelled. The mirror shows various features which distinguish it as a Whytock & Reid mirror – the shaped top, the curves and the quality of the frame. Sometimes it is difficult to establish which were Whytock designs and which were designs by Sir Robert Lorimer as so many of them are very similar. This is quality mirror, made in Edinburgh.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
