A Large Mid Century QEII Canvas bound Despatch Box with a central swan neck swing carrying handle, the bevelled top embossed with the insignia of Queen Elizabeth II. The black leather lined interior with raised sides and locating studs. The Bramah lock & key are stamped H. Mitchell & Co, LondonCondition: Very good with a few surface scratches & grazesProvenance
This box was formerly the property of Robert Edwin Alford 1904-1979, (Knight Commander off The British Empire) + C.M.G)
Alford joined the Colonial Service and served successively in Nigeria, Zanzibar, and St Helena. He was appointed CMG in 1951 and KBE in 1960.
