Circa 1820. A stylish French walnut serpentine fronted commode. The top with book matched walnut with fine figuring- rounded fore edge and shaped frieze. With a configuration of four serpentine drawers, unusually they taper from bottom to top, each has stylish cast brass and pierced escutcheons, oval lifting handles and elegant back plate. The corners are canted with foliate carving on the top and a shaped pilaster, beneath the bottom drawer there is a carved and shaped frieze which continues around the side. The chest rests on a pair of squat cabriole legs on the front faced with a flower head, the commode has excellent colour and patination.
