Circa 1880, late Victorian oak Aesthetic Movement style gong on stand, with a stylish beater with a suede top. The square shaped stand has 2 large finials on top. The top rail is chamfered inside above several balustrades. Beneath this is another rail and 2 quarter blocks. In the centre of this hangs the large brass gong, above an elongated stretcher with 5 circles cut out off it. The whole piece stands on a trestle end with turned tapering upright supports and a simple plinth base. The beater is hung on the side on a large brass hook. Stylish, good colour and excellent condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
