This is an antique carved correspondence desk with hidden drawer. A Scottish, oak writing table, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1860.

• Superior quality desk with delightfully figured stocks and Gothic revival overtones
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
• Select oak shows fine grain interest and wisps of medullary rays
• Rich caramel hues beam beneath the wax polish finish

• Low back rest adorned with carved winged motif
• Upper console arranged with five drawers around a laptop friendly recess
• Writing surface decorated with leaf carved pattern edge
• Accessed by blind pulls, the writing surface extends by 9cm (3.5), with comfortable working height of 80.5cm (31.75")

• Desk base offers four drawers, each dressed with a circular pull
• Central desk dressed with an inset brass lined lock — key absent
• Right-hand drawer replete with concealed compartment to rear of box
• Scrolled brackets frame the kneehole, uniting the quartet of baluster turned legs
