This is an antique carved folio stand. A Burmese, teak folding gentleman's newspaper rack, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.

• Excellent craftsmanship with striking carved detail
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in superb order
• Select stocks show fine grain interest and deep russet hues
• Enthusiastically decorated with skilful carvings and delicate fretwork

• Prominent top rail presenting a pair of elephants framed with decorative finials
• Fascia host chased foliate patterns, the fall front with a seated deity relief holding the fronds
• Shaped fall articulates downwards, held securely with a brass chain stay

• Pierced fretwork brackets add a distinguished touch to the lower stand
• Raised upon splayed square section legs to each corner
• The whole folds away for ease of carriage in the campaign manner

This is a superb antique carved folio stand, with exceptional craftsmanship to the heavily decorated frame. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
