This is an antique fireside pole screen. An English, ebonised mahogany and papier-mâché height adjustable heat reflector, dating to the Aesthetic period, circa 1880.

• Charmingly decorative screen, with a delightfully dark appearance
• Displays a desirable aged patina, in good original order
• Ebonised frame presents lustrous black tonality throughout
• Papier-mâché screen adjusts in height through 83cm (32.75'')

• Riser released by a fascinating pincer clasp for ease of adjustment
• Turned collar to the lower support, above the tripartite plinth base
• Dressed with foliate ormolu mounts and standing upon bun feet
