This is an antique framed sampler. An English, needlepoint tapestry panel, dated to the Victorian period and later, circa 1850.

• Delightful early Victorian period sampler
• Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order
• Charming needlepoint with an attractive colour palette
• Bird's Eye Maple figuring to the frame, with ebonised edge

• A cheerful dog chases a bird through a riverside scene
• Foliate border of alternating flowerheads adds further detail
• Named and dated to 1853 by a Mary Ann Shaw
• Dressed with hanging wire to the rear for ease of mounting

This is an appealing antique framed sampler, with a wonderfully naive scene and personalised by the artist. Delivered waxed, polished and ready to display.
