Claude Dumas is a French Ceramics professor born in Roanne in 1955, graduated from Beaux-Arts de Paris in 1981.
After school, he created a design company that he ran for ten years before becoming head of the CREAR institute of arts and communication professions.In 1996, he became the assistant of Georges Jeanclos then Giuseppe Penone.In 2002 he created the ceramics studio of Beaux-Arts de Paris.A great technician, Claude Dumas carves in a way that questions the essential nature of the medium. Working mainly ceramics, he uses soil both for its inherent properties and ability to absorb other essences. The inorganic then defies gravity and metamorphoses into a sprout, a skull or an egg to explore the foundations of the living.The sculpture hasn’t any cracks, however there is some minor chip’s, and these can be seen from the photograph. These cracks however can be easily repaired without difficulty and will make a great art-deco piece to have.This V shaped sculptured vase by Claude Dumas would make an extremely sensible purchase especially for anyone looking for an excellent investment, or even a special gift. I certainly believe that it would be quite difficult to easily find another example.
