A sideboard in the Brittany style, made in oaken wood. The furniture is composed of two segments: a bottom, and an upper part. The bottom is in the chest form, supported on balusters which are situated on a cornice that ends with a molding. The upper part is in the form of a setting supported by the figures of females, and is crowned with a cornice with a crest and finials.
The door and setting panels are ornamented with semi-plastic carvings. Whereas, the side panels of the closet are decorated with a relief ornamentation. Moreover, noteworthy are full-plastic carvings of female figures, and openwork cutouts in the door panels. The drawers are decorated with striking brass fittings.
The furniture is in very good condition It has undergone only some cosmetic renovation.
This type of furniture was a luxurious addition, and had a representative character, as demonstrated by numerous ornamentations. If well-preserved, such decorations are a true rarity.
Presented sideboard is such an example.
