COPERNICAN ARMILLARY SPHERE WITH INTERNAL ORRERY EARLY 19TH CENTURY
An armillary sphere based on the sky theories of Copernicus with the sun as the center point of the planets of its solar system. This model is not signed but it is a Delamarche type. Charles Francois Delamarche was an important French globe maker and publisher. He became the most important maker of inexpensive globes in France from about 1780 -l817. Upon his death the firm was managed by his son Felix Delamarche until 1848 when the firm was taken over by Gosselin and that is perhaps the reason for lack of the Delamarche name on the Armillary sphere.
