Circa 1890. Qing dynasty Chinese dark-wood plant stand. The top with petal shaped and pink variegated marble insert which follows the form of the outside of the top, with a simple chamfered edge and small frieze which is pierced, beneath this a slightly flared apron with typical Chinese foliate carving. Standing on 4 legs, each carved with a mythical primitive dragonhead, the side of the legs are beaded with foliate carving down the facing with concave stretchers uniting the legs and giving the stand stability, finishing on a ball and claw foot.
