Circa 1890, Chinese Qing dynasty hardwood marble topped plant stand/pedestal with a wonderful stylish shape. The raised top has concentric segmented sections forming a circle with a rouge variegated marble centre. There is a form of gadrooning on the fore edge of the top, and beneath this a wonderful raised collar which is tapering and convex in shape, formed of panels which have carved flowers with berries. There is a carved bezel and four very elaborate legs carved with dragon heads on the top, open fretwork quarter brackets and finishing in a carved toe. The legs are held in position by a raised cross over stretcher with open fretwork and crowned in the centre with a solid block carved almost like faux bamboo. Wonderful colour and excellent style.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
