coalport sugar bowl & cover, c.1820

A fine porcelain sugar bowl and cover from the Coalport factory, manufactured around 1820. Of flattened form with low cover surmounted by a gilt and white 'pineapple' knob. Decorated with a peach border overlaid with a rich gilt design of scrolls and leaves. The base bears the hand-written pattern number, 872, in gold.
