SUPERB LARGE 'IMPROVED PATENT ENGLISH LEVER' POCKET WATCH c1907
A superb large 'Improved Patent English Lever' pocket watch, dating to 1907/8, in excellent condition and good working order, keeping very good time, key included.
The silver case is in excellent condition, hinges tight and covers lock shut, the rear cover springs open when the pendant button is pressed. The case is hallmarked for Birmingham, 1907/8, initials 'W.E' (for William Ehrhardt, watch manufacturers, Birmingham & London) and numbered '703026' which matches the movement number. The rear cover is decorated with engine turning with a large blank central cartouche.
The case measures 59mm overall diameter ignoring the stem, and the watch weighs a hefty 187g.
The enamel dial is marked 'IMPROVED PATENT ENGLISH LEVER' and is in excellent condition, no chips or hairlines. The convex glass crystal and hands are in excellent condition.
The English lever movement is in excellent condition and good working order, keeping very good time (runs for over 24 hours from full wind). The movement is numbered '703026' and 'WARRANTED ENGLISH LEVER' and 'SAFETY PINION'. The movement is key wind and set which work fine, modern key included.
