Very rare 1878 pattern home service helmet to the Eton Volunteer Rifle Corps [EVRC] of grey cloth complete with white metal cross piece, spike and rose pattern ear bosses that support a velvet backed white metal chin chain. Around the waist are two light coloured cloth bands plus the edge of the helmet is trimmed with similar coloured cloth. The interior has a leather sweatband. To the front of the helmet is a white metal "EVRC" badge with a strung bugle horn above.[There is a little wear to some parts of the grey cloth material]. The helmet is in a cased tin with the initials RJPT painted on it. Overall, in very good condition for its age and would make a superb addition to any headdress collection
