We are a well established company selling predominantly restored antique beds with our antique furniture side just starting to develop.
In 1971 Seventh Heaven was formed by husband and wife team Jerry and Meryl Butler. From the humble beginnings of a market stall selling bric-a-brac and the occasional brass bed at weekends in London, they left their steady teaching and a nursing jobs and balanced raising a young family with building up the business. After the first few years running a small shop in London they uprooted to Chirk Mill in North Wales, a place where they could work on the beds and display the finished items beside the busy A5 . There were numerous challenges, such losing a workshop to fire, but slowly the company grew into a great success and Seventh Heaven became renowned nationally and internationally for fine antique beds in all styles, along with top quality mattresses, bed linen and bedding.
In 2008, the recession hit all businesses regardless of size or sector. Seventh Heaven recognized change was needed and relaunched as ‘divine dreams’. It also saw the change of a family generation at the helm, with Tracy and Tony now steering the ship and putting everything they had into the business to make it a success. The business still benefits from the pioneering involvement of Tony’s parents, but with a fully experienced and up and coming team, the business is now well positioned to fight off any rough rides from the economy.
At first it was like going back in time with Tony and Tracy selling their house to raise the funds to begin the business. With the country in deep recession and demand for antique beds at an all time low, times were hard, especially when trying to balance raising a family of four children with working seven days a week. Gradually the business picked up, helped in no small part by the loyalty of 40 years of customers of Seventh Heaven. Over the coming years a small team of ex-Seventh Heaven employees joined Divine Dreams and key amongst them was Jackie Harold, who had been the face of Seventh Heaven for 30 years.
Six years on and Divine Dreams has gone from strength to strength, and we think the time is right to be known as Seventh Heaven once again. Most previous customers that have known us for decades still refer to us as Seventh Heaven and to be frank we prefer the name.
So once again Chirk Mill is the place to come for antique beds in all styles, top quality mattresses, bases, bedding and bed linen.
We look forward to hearing from you.
