Circa 1800. A stylish French kingwood and walnut bombe shaped ormolu mounted bureau. The top with elongated diamond patterns framed with string inlay, this is repeated all over the bureau. The shaped flap with large cast brass Rococo escutcheon with original key, opens to reveal a leather writing surface and a series of shaped drawers, pigeon holes and a polished surface. Beneath this two small lopers with turned handles for supporting the flap, below a pair of shaped drawers with Rococo handles and elegant escutcheons with gilded moulding separating them. Further mouldings in the frieze and on the inside facings of the legs. All resting on four elegant cabriole legs finishing with well-cast sabots on the front legs.
