Circa 1900, French neat sized walnut bureau plat. The top is quarter veneered and has a single string inlay, and further crossbanding which is segmented to follow the shape of the double serpentine top. Outside of this the whole top is mounted and encased in a brass bezel. Each corner has a wonderful cast brass mount in the form of flowers. Below the top is a drawer with cast brass Rococo handles. The bottom of the drawer is shaped and finishes like an apron. The gables are bow fronted with half matching veneers. There are carved capitols on the tops of the elegant legs, which have chamfered fronts and are crossbanded, sweeping down into cast brass sabots. Neat size, excellent colour.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
