Circa 1770. George 111 mahogany bureau bookcase in totally original condition. Surmounted by a moulded dentil and fluted cornice, the bookcase section with two cross-banded doors and original brass escutcheons opening to a two-section bookcase, each with three adjustable shelves. The bureau with canted corners and neo-classical fluted pillars and a flap in fine Spanish mahogany with original escutcheon and steel lock. The interior with four secret compartments with Corinthian pillar facings, shaped frieze drawers, pigeonholes and drawers and a gilt tooled hide writing surface. With two short and three long drawers with original cast brass handles, steel locks and quarter cut oak liners all over a moulded base and ogee bracket feet.
