Circa 1770, George III corner chair made in English walnut. The chair has a wonderful swept back, double rail top and shaped arms. Below this the back is supported by three turned uprights with two further shaped splats on either side. There is a large square seat which is finished in needlepoint depicting a floral arrangement. The seat rail has a chamfered top and the chair stands on four square legs with ribbing on the front and slight chamfer on the inside. The base is supported by four rectangular stretchers, and the chair is held together by peg dowels. The chair retains its original patination. Old repair on the top rail.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
