Circa 1820. An exhibition quality George IV mahogany inlaid four door breakfront linen press. The moulded cornice with various inlays including satinwood and chequered patterns, in the center a pair of doors with plum pudding mahogany panels, brass beading and string inlay. Inside the press retains its original pull-out slides, beneath the cupboards there is a configuration of two short drawers over three further graduating drawers. The drawers retain their original cast gilded brass handles with stylish pommels and circular back plates with flower heads. The two full length doors left and right, with cast brass axe head drop handles, inside uninterrupted hanging and mirrors on the inside of the doors. Beneath is a simple moulding and frieze, all resting on six amazing carved feet with scrolling sections on the top, sitting on an urn like section beneath, all resting on a block with chamfered sides. Excellent colour and patination. Label on back; ‘Druce & Co Depository London. Lady Dance. 2.10.36’.
