Circa 1820. An exhibition quality George IV mahogany inlaid four door breakfront linen press. The moulded cornice with various inlays including satinwood and chequered patterns, in the center a pair of doors with plum pudding mahogany panels, brass beading and string inlay. Inside the press retains its original pull-out slides, beneath the cupboards there is a configuration of two short drawers over three further graduating drawers. The drawers retain their original cast gilded brass handles with stylish pommels and circular back plates with flower heads. The two full length doors left and right, with cast brass axe head drop handles, inside uninterrupted hanging and mirrors on the inside of the doors. Beneath is a simple moulding and frieze, all resting on six amazing carved feet with scrolling sections on the top, sitting on an urn like section beneath, all resting on a block with chamfered sides. Excellent colour and patination. Label on back; ‘Druce & Co Depository London. Lady Dance. 2.10.36’.

    Georgian Antiques

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
