Circa 1830, George IV mahogany bow fronted chiffonier of diminutive proportions. The stylish bow fronted top is in flame mahogany, and to the back there is 4 turned cast brass columns. The columns are tapering and also engraved. At the top of these there is a small bow fronted shelf with a cross banded fore edge and a three quarter wrap around brass gallery with open fretwork. The piece has 1 bow fronted drawer below the top, and it has 2 large cast brass knob handles with a floral decoration in the centre. On either side of this are small panels, and beneath are 2 pilasters which have Egyptian heads at the top. These are finished with a tapering column, a tapering section beneath and feet at the base. There are 2 bow fronted doors with a brass bezel that open to reveal a shelved interior, and have stylish escutcheons on both sides. With mahogany gables, there is also a simple half round moulding beneath the doors of this chiffonier. It stands on turned and curled feet and finishes on a circular bun. The chiffonier is of excellent colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
