Circa 1820. A good George IV padouk wood partner’s desk. The rectangular shaped desk with gilded and tooled green leather insert and lovely narrow broad banding and moulded edge. To the front is a configuration of one drawer in the center flanked by a bank of four drawers, the drawers graduate from top to bottom with oval brass escutcheons and cast brass handles with oval back plates, the back of the desk has three drawers has three drawers, similar to the other side, and two panel cupboards. Beneath the bottom drawer and the cupboards there is a fine beading that continues around each of the pedestals, all resting on an enclosed plinth. The desk comes into three parts. .The desk has great colour and patination.
