george iv pole screen

Circa 1820, stylish George IV pole screen. There is a cartouche shaped panel of paper mache with slight crackling and curve depicting Chinese pergoda buildings, stylish trees and some figures. At the back there is a small bracket, and a brass clasp for locking it into position, and some further painting . The pole is finished with a stylish simple urn shaped finial at the top and as it continues down it is fixed to a stem. The stem is turned at the top. The tapering fluting column leads onto a bezel on the base which takes a dragonian form. This stands on a raised triangular curved shaped platform base on 3 squat feet. The whole piece has been ebonised making it quite distinctive.Size 146cm high x 40cm wide x 36cm deep.
