italian marquetry desk/side table

Circa 1870, stylish Italian marquetry neat sized desk/side table. The top is crossbanded and inlaid with wonderful foliate marquetry and a central panel depicting mythical birds. This inlay is repeated on the sides, front and back making the piece freestanding. At the front is a combination of one long drawer and two short drawers to each side, with simple brass knob handles and pine liners. The whole piece stands on four inlaid tapering legs with an ebonised section at the top. The desk has good colour and good condition.

Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
