This is a large antique ship's chest. An English, ebonised pine shipping or workman's trunk, dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.

• Of impressive proportion, a delightfully weathered shipping chest
• Displays a desirable aged patina and in good original order
• Ebonised pine stocks present deep black tones to the exterior
• Historically painted, clean interior a shock of off-red hues

• Stout lid opens to near vertical upon internal strap hinges, with rear rest for support
• Interior arranged with a pair of candle boxes, one with articulated lid
• Dressed to the front fascia with and inset brass lock — untested, key absent
• Tactile aged rope handles set within stout keepers for ease of carriage

This is a charming antique ship's chest, with large proportion and a bright, clean painted interior. Ideal for transit, decorative use or as a distinctive coffee table. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
