large dutch mahogany and marquetry commode

Circa 1800, large mahogany and marquetry inlaid Dutch commode. The D-shaped commode has a floral marquetry top which is inlaid with classic Dutch scenes, above a bowfronted, oak-lined drawer flanked by 2 further panels. Beneath is a brass moulding continuing around, and the base has 2 bowfronted doors depicting a figure with surrounding marquetry. The side panels have further marquetry designs of urns and flowers, and it has a simple inlaid apron above 4 squat spade feet.

Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
