Circa 1870. An unusual and rare large-scale set of grocer scales. The cast iron scales which are painted and gilded and have brass sections, the center section is surmounted by a fleur-de-lis with honeysuckle, further pierced and gilded sections and a cast brass balance. One side has a cast brass tray held, the other side has a shaped which contains a marble tray, and various weights are also included. All resting on a single stem which sits on a concave base with foliate casting.
