Circa 1890, solid mahogany library chair or gentleman’s desk chair, stamped on the inside back legs: J & T Scott, 10 George St, Edinburgh. The chair has a large horseshoe shaped seat which is scooped in the centre. The back and arms are shaped and upholstered, supported by an open fretwork splat in the centre and two turned and faceted uprights on each side. The chair stands on heavy turned tapering legs at the front and shaped swept legs at the back, united by an H stretcher. Wonderful colour and excellent condition.
