An extensive set of Limoges porcelain plates and serving dishes. Produced by the Charles Ahrenfeldt factory in Limoges, between 1894 and 1930. White background, floral decoration in pink, green and yellow, border decoration of gilded vines, further gilding on handles and bases of serving dishes.
All pieces are in very good condition, with some minimal wear to the decoration in places, no chips or cracks. There are some interesting variations in the design amongst the pieces, as it is thought this set was collected over a period of years. For example some pieces have more yellow flowers than others; four plates have seven repeats of pattern, the rest have eight. All pieces have the same factory mark.
The covered tureen is most impressive and is supplied with a china ladle of similar age and decoration, but possibly not original to the set.
Set comprises:
32 dinner plates, 24 cms diameter
1 tureen with lid and ladle, 32 x 23 x 19 cms approx.
1 serving dish with lid, 30 x 20 x 15 cms approx.
2 large oval platters (1 with recess to fit base of tureen), 40 x 28 cms
A beautiful antique dinner service suitable for use or display.
