Circa 1900, unusual tall, narrow walnut chest of drawers. The variegated pink marble top is serpentine shaped and has an ogee moulded edge, over 6 drawers with herringbone and geometric inlaid woods and very stylish cast brass Rococo handles. The section between the top drawer and the second is wider to give stability to the piece. The front edge is rounded and has an inlaid panel. The gables are in the form of parquetry with a large herringbone section. Beneath the bottom drawer is a shaped apron with a dip in the centre, and all stands on cabriole legs with walnut banding on the fore edge. There are cast brass sabots at the front.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
