Circa 1860, neat sized mid Victorian kingwood pier cabinet. The rectangular top has rounded corners on the front and matching half veneers, above a fore edge again with similar banding and beneath this a slightly recessed apron. There is a single glazed door at the front framed by small brass beading. It has a very stylish Rococo escutcheon and the door locks are held in position by French pin hinges. Inside there are 2 adjustable shelves and the shelves, base and back are covered in velvet. There are 2 glazed gables framed by a form of herringbone banding. At the base there is a cushion apron which is shaped at the front and the sides, and the whole piece stands on 4 squat cabriole legs with a banding down the front. The cabinet is mellow in colour, clean and sturdy.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
