A nineteenth century Aesthetic Movement occasional table. Sixteen inch diameter. Inlaid with foliage, a bird and a butterfly. A fine example of Aestheticism which began in the 1870's, reflecting the importance of aesthetic principals instead of following materialism.
Exponents during the period of Aestheticism included Rossetti, G F Watts, William Morris and Oscar Wilde.
