pair of gilded ballroom chairs

Circa 1880, pair of gilded ballroom chairs, with very stylish shaped backs supported by 4 fine turned spindles and 2 substantial spindles on the outside which run all the way down to the back legs. The seat which is serpentine fronted is newly upholstered (originally these chairs would have been bergered). The chairs are supported underneath by a multiple of stretchers, and the legs at the front are turned and slightly swept. Very pretty and elegant.

Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
