Inscribed " John Rylands / Bewsey Hall Warrington 1771-1848" and signed with monogram "WS" further inscribed on the reverse " Painted 1881 by Mrs Wm Simpson nee Burt from a Daguerrotype.
John Rylands of Warrington, of Rylands Brothers Ltd.
Born 21st January 1771, Warrington Lancs.
Married on 13th September 1808, as his second wife Martha Glazebrook dau of Rev James Glazebrook. He died 23rd August 1848.
