Circa 1900. Qing period Chinese Hongmu low or opium table bearing original Shui Hing (Kowloon cabinetmaker) label. The top with a rectangular sunken panel in beautifully figured hardwood with raised moulded edges and a double faux-bamboo frieze. The sides with open-fret, finely carved hawthorn flowers and birds. The table sides fold over with curved panels with further hawthorn flowers, all over scrolled feet. In excellent condition and bearing its original makers label ‘Shui Hing, Teak and Blackwood Furniture, 92 Nathan Road, Kowloon’.
