Circa mid-1700s. Rare metal and leather-bound wooden trunk of the early Georgian period with brass plaque engraved with ‘Mary Mitchel’. The top with metal bound corners and metal banding all lined by rivets between brown leather embellished with studs. The front with lock and panels of leather with copper decoration, the sides with original steel carrying handle on a heart shaped back plate, the back with panels of leather as found. Would make a decorative coffee table.
