Circa 1860. A Queen Anne style red lacquered and chinoiserie styled bureau bookcase. The elegant arched moulded cornice and decorated frieze surmounted by a pair of large gilded finials with a smaller one in the center. A pair of shaped doors with bevel edged mirrors with fine decoration to the frame and elegant escutcheons, opens to reveal a red painted interior with adjustable shelves, pigeon holes and various drawers, beneath this there are two pull out candle slides, the flap decorated with chinoiserie decoration, opens to reveal a well fitted interior, with leather writing surface and various pigeon holes and drawers and a slide to a well. With a deep frieze at the front with further decoration, and a pair of small lopers for supporting the flap. A configuration of two over two drawers with brass swan neck handles with pierced bat shaped back plates, the gilded mouldings beneath the top drawer continues around the sides and beneath the bottom drawer there is a gilded moulding and the whole piece rests on four bracket feet.
