Circa 1815. A rare stylish and unusual rosewood library chair probably by ’Gillows of Lancaster. ‘The curved and shaped back supported on pairs of entwined scumbled spindles. The two shaped arms with rondels on the sides are supported on a curved upright. The chair has recently had a new swab cushion, traditionally made in brown leather, simple curved seat rail following the form of the chair. Back legs are square and slightly out swept, and front legs are turned and ring turned finishing on a brass cup with original castors beneath.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh.
