A quite outstanding and rare Regency period octagonal cabbage top tortoise shell double tea caddy with pagoda overhang top, bombe shaped side panels, silver stringing, top initial plate and escutcheon. The interior, which has traces of the original zinc lining, has a segmented inner lid which has an ivory knob, ivory facings and original red velvet lined lid. The base has the original paper lined bottom with ivory faced edge and stands on four brass feet. In exceptional condition throughout with key. Circa 1825, it measures 6 inches across (15 cms) and stands 5.5 inches high (14 cms). Exported legally with CITES certificate.
