This armchair has a solid frame with a good weight and is of very good quality. It dates from around 1870 and is very comfortable. It has attractive scrolled arms which are slightly set back and a slight serpentine shaped front. It is fully sprung and stuffed with horse hair and has been upholstered in the last ten years or so. Although the fabric is in good condition this chair would look wonderful in a new modern fabric. There are attractive shaped legs under the valance with original castors. The show wood on the legs is in lovely condition.This super armchair is very comfortable and came to us with another similar chair and sofa. The pieces together would make a good pair of chairs or three piece suite. The other chair is stock code '67' and the sofa is stock code '70'.
