Circa 1860. A rare and unusual set of 16 oak dining chairs (ex, Rossi Priory, Perthshire, originally the home of Lord Kinnaird). The set consists of ten armchairs and six side chairs. The shaped and carved padded backs, each surmounted by a coronet with scrolling and foliate carving beneath. The padded back in original Moroccan leather is pleated and deep buttoned. The two arms are padded with leather, with scrolling facings held and supported on elegant uprights. The chairs have a large stuff over seat with a shaped apron on all sides with foliate carving on the front. The back legs are turned and out swept and finish with a small carving at the end with a concealed brass caster beneath. The elegant front legs with foliate carving on the knees, scrolling on the front leg and reeding at the side, finish on a well curled foot and sit on a raised turned bun beneath.
