small 19th century mahogany and chestnut continental chest

Continental mahogany chest of drawers, of neat proportions and dating from the early part of the 19th Century.

The chest comprises a rectangular top over 4 long drawers and bracket feet. The drawers have fabulous book-matched veneers with leather escutcheons, working key and later brass handles. On the back of the chest is a label showing a name and address in Odessa.The chest is in excellent condition with a striking grain, superb patina and knocks and marks typical and commensurate with its age and use. There are some signs of aged worm but this is old, has been treated and is not an issue.
