This lovely example of pre-Victorian jewellery features a large rectangular head with an enamelled black panel with gold inlay initials reading ‘MP’, framed with fourteen natural white-grey split seed pearls. The shoulders are tapered with a cast floral design which leads into a lined detailed band. Inside the head there is an inscription which reads ‘Mrs Mary Page Ob 7 Feb 1818 at 68’.
This ring, circa Georgian era, tests as 18ct and 15ct rose gold. It is in good condition for its age with just light and marks commensurate with age. There is evidence of a resizing to the base of the shank where a matching piece has been added, as well as some signs of general antique-era repair to the shoulders where they join the head and shank. Sturdy on all points, with pearls well set, a fully wearable piece of history.
