This early 19th-century mourning ring features a bold central foil-backed garnet in a deep crimson hue, framed by ornate goldwork. The shoulders of the ring are intricately carved with delicate leaf motifs, adding a naturalistic elegance to the design. Flanking the garnet are two black enamel teardrops, a traditional symbol of mourning. The combination of rich textures and materials makes this a striking example of memorial jewellery from the period.
The engraving reads "Mr. John Orme, died 28 Sep. 1820 aged 60.". This ring is in very good overall condition with light wear commensurate with age.
