Circa 1795, rare and unusual mahogany Pembroke table, probably by Young & Trotter of Edinburgh. The rectangular squat Pembroke table has a solid top and short side flaps. On one side is a full sized drawer with an oak lining. At the opposite end is a simple apron. The piece stands on 4 unusual legs which have a square block at the top, are chamfered on all 4 sides and are tapering. At the bottom is a shaped block and 4 fluted tapering toes in the forms of elongated triangles. The table has a very elaborate cross over stretcher which is made in the flat with open sections in the form of hearts. Similar examples of this table appear in Edinburgh journals. Young & Trotter later became the firm of William Trotter. Nice piece of Edinburgh furniture.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
