very rare marked thomas lakin 'drab porcelain' pierced and moulded plate, c.1790-1800

A pierced and lustre decorated earthenware plate from the factory of Thomas Lakin, produced in Staffordshire between 1790 and 1800. The reverse bears the impressed mark 'Drab Porcelain', something of a misnomer as the plate is actually earthenware. However, this is a rare mark. It appears that the only other known piece so marked is a teapot in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Also unusual for the pink lustre to highlight the moulded decoration. The plate is in excellent, original, sound condition with little wear to the decoration. Please note: the purchase price includes postage and packing.
