Circa 1860, mid-Victorian burr walnut and inlaid drop leaf table. The top has quarter matching veneers, solid burr walnut veneers, and several bandings in satinwood and king wood. When open it forms a large oval and when closed the 2 drop down flaps are quite deep, making a pencil-shaped table top. With an apron to each end, and a single drawer with burr walnut facing, it is standing on a turned and tapering column. There is a bulbous, carved section and substantial quadruple base. Each of the cabriole legs have well carved acanthus leaves from the top running down the knees and the sides have mouldings with a small C scroll beneath. The table is in excellent colour and condition.

Georgian Antiques was founded in 1978 by John Dixon's brother Padriac in a small shop at Jocks Lodge, Meadowbank in Edinburgh, with John joining the business after finishing college in 1981. The business grew so rapidly, they couldn't keep up with their inventory needs. Their goal has been to create a one-stop-shop where designers can complete an entire project from antique lighting to antique furniture to accessories. Scotland's largest antiques warehouse is located in a converted whiskey bond in historic Leith Edinburgh. With 50,000sq ft over five floors we offer a wide range of quality Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian furniture, as well as continental and small decorative items. Our stock is constantly changing.
