victorian burr walnut writing slope

Circa 1870, Victorian burr walnut writing slope, with an unusual profile and curved lid and front. There is a large cast brass escutcheon on the front which opens to reveal a purple leather writing surface. There is a small pin which pulls to open a drawer at the side. The dome top is double hinged and opens to reveal a stylish interior with various letter compartments and an inkwell. There is also a further compartment below the writing surface which is lined in birds eye maple. Excellent condition and usable.
